Yum! Brands, Inc. (YUM), formerly Tricon Global Restaurants, Inc. was spun off from PepsiCo in October 1997. The company currently owns, operates, and franchises major fast food concepts, such as KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell in more than 100 countries. Long John Silver's and A&W All American Food restaurants were acquired in 2002.

Yum! Brands, Inc. is the world's largest restaurant company with over 35,000 system restaurants in more than 100 countries, and territories, which include over 2,000 license units. Of these, roughly 20,000 were in the U.S., 12,000 outside the U.S. and China, and more than 3,000 in China. Four of the company's restaurant brands: KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Long John Silver's are global names in the chicken, pizza, Mexican-style, and quick-service seafood categories, respectively. The company is the world leader in multi-branding, and offering consumers more choice and convenience at one restaurant location from using the complement of KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, A&W, and Long John Silver's brands. At the end of 2007, the company and its franchisees operated 3,989 multi-brand restaurants.

Geographically, Yum! earns its revenues from three divisions:

U.S. 50% of 2007 total revenue. Yum! had about 20,000 restaurants in the U.S.

YRI (Yum! Brands International) 30% of 2007 revenue The company's operations outside the U.S., excluding China. YRI has roughly 12,000 restaurants in 113 countries, predominately KFC's and Pizza Huts.

China 20% of 2007 revenue. Based in Shanghai, Yum!'s China division has more than 3,000 restaurants in China, primarily KFC's.
