VeriSign, Inc. (VRSN) provides essential Internet infrastructure services to companies, service providers and website owners. VeriSign has three core offerings: Internet security, registry services, and communications services. Its managed security services include setting up firewalls, intrusion detection technology, and virtual private networks and monitoring this system around the clock. VeriSign enables firms to issue digital certificates via a public key infrastructure in order to control access to resources and to authenticate parties involved in transactions. The company also registers domain names and helps develop digital brands. Its clients include Fortune 500 companies, government organizations, small businesses, and telecommunications carriers. VeriSign is the authorized directory provider for roughly over 71 million .com, .net, .cc, and .tv domain names (27% y/y growth). Additionally, its communication offerings include Signaling System 7 (SS7) network services as well as intelligent database and billing & payment services for wireless carriers. The company reports its revenue through two business segments: Internet Services Group (ISG) and Communications Services Group (CSG). ISG consists of the Security Services business and the Information Services business. The Security Services business provides products and services that protect online and network interactions, enabling companies to manage reputation as well as operational and compliance risks. The Information Services business is the authoritative directory provider of all .com, .net, .cc, and .tv domain names, and also provides other value-added services including intelligent supply chain services, real-time publisher services, and digital brand management services. CSG consists of three segments: Digital Content and Messaging revenue, Communications and Commerce revenue, and Professional Services revenue.
