Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based United States Steel Corporation (X) is a leading steel manufacturer in the U.S. and the fifth largest worldwide. It produces and sells steel mill products, including flat-rolled and tubular products, in North America (72% of revenue) and Europe (28% of revenue). U. S. Steel has global annual raw steel production capacity of 31.7 million net tons. United States Steel reports 4 segments: Flat-Rolled Products (56% of sales): The Flat-Rolled Products segment manufactures sheets, plates, and tin mill products for the automotive, appliance, service center, conversion, container, and construction markets. Tubular Products (11% of sales): This segment is made up of domestic tubular production facilities. It provides seamless and electric resistance weld tubular products to the oil, gas, and petrochemical markets. This division has the capability to produce 1.8 million tons of tubular products, and imports represent nearly 60% of U.S. demand. U.S. Steel Europe (USSE) (25% of sales): USSE sells sheets, plates, tin mill, tubulars, precision tubes, specialty steel products, and coke to end-markets like construction, conversion, appliance, and transportation in Central, Western, and Southern Europe. The segment includes the operations of U.S. Steel Kosice (USSK), the company's integrated steel mill in Slovakia, and U.S. Steel Serbia (USSS), the company's integrated steel mill and other facilities in Serbia. Other Businesses (8% of revenue): This segment is involved in the production and sale of iron-bearing taconite pellets, transportation services, the management and development of real estate, and engineering and consulting services. It wholly owns iron ore pellet mines in Minnesota, Michigan in the U.S., and partially (44.6%) owns Wabush Mines in Canada various railway companies in the U.S. real estate assets in Alabama, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania in the U.S. and in Ontario, Canada and Met-Chem Canada Inc. a consulting engineering company providing services in the mining and mineral processing sectors.
