Tech Data Corporation (TECD) is one of the leading providers of information technology (IT) products, logistics management, and other value-added services. The company is the second-largest distributor of IT products worldwide. It has more than 90,000 customers in over countries. Tech Data also provides extensive pre- and post-sale training, service, and support. These products are sourced directly from manufacturers and publishers for sale and are provided in a variety of IT segments, including peripherals, systems, networking and software. Tech Data generates revenue primarily from two geographical segments: the Americas and Europe. In fiscal year 2008, the Americas segment accounted for 47% of total revenue, while 53% of revenue was generated in Europe. The company has grown through strategic acquisitions, beginning with the purchase of a privately held Canadian distributor in 1989.
