Headquartered in Boca Raton, FL, Eclipsys Corporation (ECLP) develops and licenses proprietary software for the healthcare industry. Sunrise Enterprise is the Eclipsys suite of enterprise solutions that help clients improve their clinical, financial, operational, and patient-satisfaction outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Sunrise Enterprise software is based on proprietary architecture called Eclipsys XA that is built on Microsoft's .NET Framework, Microsoft SQL Server, and the Microsoft Windows family of operating systems. The end users of the software include clinicians, physicians, nurses, and administrative support and ancillary staff of healthcare organizations. The company also provides professional services such as implementation, integration, product, training, and maintenance support, outsourcing, remote hosting applications, and consulting services to its customers. The company exited the network services business in the fourth quarter 2007. Initially, Eclipsys adopted an inorganic growth strategy, by acquiring nine companies during 1997 - 1999. Eclipsys generates revenue through the licensing of its software and delivery of services (systems and services revenue) and selling hardware. In 2007, systems and services revenue and hardware revenue contributed 97% and 3%, respectively to total revenue.
