eBay enables ecommerce on a local, national and international basis with an array of websites, including the eBay Marketplaces, PayPal, Skype, Kijiji, Rent.com and Shopping.com. Online auctioneer, eBay Inc., is the world's largest online trading community. The company provides niche online services that generated $7.6 billion in sales in 2007. The company's website enables a global community of buyers and sellers to interact and trade with one another under eBay's auction umbrella, or a fixed-price format, in order to exchange items ranging from automobiles, collectibles, antiques, and sports memorabilia to toys, jewelry, and consumer electronics. The company derives much of its revenue from listing and success fees paid by sellers. Additionally, the company's PayPal service allows consumers to send and receive online payments. PayPal is a leading online payment system that was acquired by eBay in October 2002 to offer customers an easier method to pay for goods. It is a fast-growing and profitable business benefiting from more direct promotions on eBay. In October 2005, eBay acquired Skype, which allows people everywhere to make free, unlimited, superior quality voice calls via its award-winning innovative peer-to-peer software for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and Pocket PC platforms. In January 2007, eBay acquired StubHub.com, online ticket reseller.
